Rivina humilis
This Florida native plant with red berries is supposed to be good for birds, so I'll keep an eye on this one to see if I can verify that personally. If I can, I'll be bringing a few seeds home so I can grow one for my birds.

Rivina humilis has a lot of common names so I'm just sticking with its real name. It's too hard to remember them all, and they're CONFUSING! One of them is Bloodberry, which I first learned as the name of a completely different Florida native plant.
I've had pictures of this Rivina humilis for a while, but since I haven't seen any critters use it (yet) it wasn't my highest priority plant to ID and make a page on.

I remember seeing it when I was looking something else up, and I'm sure I either bookmarked it or wrote it down, but today when I got back around to it (scrolling through my pictures in Picasa: ) I couldn't find it anywhere, so I asked for an ID online.

That's one of the things I love about the internet; you can toss a question out to whomever might glance at it, and share information globally in minutes. I haven't done much this past week except make chicken soup and wait for a horrible tummy virus to depart our family. I'll spare you the details, but I have a LOT more sympathy for those folks in the Norwalk news! So, sipping my first cup of coffee in a week, and really too tired to research this plant, I posted an ID request here. Saltcedar answered within moments. Now, this plant has been sort of gently nagging at the back of my mind for months, and today by asking at the right place, and perhaps at the right time, I got an immediate answer; isn't the web NEAT!!? Thanks so much Saltcedar; I appreciate your answer.

Hopefully I'll catch a bird at this plant and post more here.
