Iris
Iris virginica flower
Iris virginica is a beautiful native (to the eastern US) plant. It's happiest in very moist soil, but if you water your garden you can grow it there too.

Ryan Iuzzolino is a  young nature photographer. I've seen him at the local wetland learning about our Florida wildlife. He and Christopher Iuzzolino took these two Iris photographs, and I'm delighted that they let me share them here; thanks guys! They caught the flowers in great poses with wonderful lighting.
Wendy shared this photo of her Iris with me. Thanks Wendy! Um... the next time you get seeds, could I have some to try getting these established in my garden again? I didn't do so well with them the last time you shared them with me.
