Then, out of the blue, it blooms, and that 'not grass' takes you into the blue, a beautiful sea of tiny blue flowers, or, in my case, purple-blue flowers. Should it be called 'Not-Blue Eyed Not-Grass'?

If you're into taxonomy, look up the genus Sisyrinchium. I believe that my Blue-Eyed Grass is Sisyrinchium nashii.
It only blooms for a little while, so snap your photos of it as soon as you see it. I've missed the opportunity to get more pictures several years in a row now because I was busy when it bloomed, and then it was too late, again. Perhaps next year? Around the time my Blue-Eyed Grass blooms, I also begin watching for my Pink Rain Lillies to bloom.
