We found this big frog, and several others, when we changed a light
bulb in the lamp post outside. I suspect that they enjoyed the heat from
the bulb, as well as an endless supply of little bugs to nibble on as
the light attracted dinner for them. It's a perfect frog habitat,
and redefines the term "bug lamp."
I had a plant I was trying to root, so I stuck it in a vase of water
outside. This frog took up residence in the vase, so I left it there,
plant and all (it has really great roots now; I'm going to have to plant
it soon... sorry froggie.)
The flash bothered it, in the next picture
the frog has climbed up the stem trying to get away.
This little frog hangs out on my windows sometimes. It usually hops
away before I can get close enough for a picture, which is a shame,
because it's a very cute frog. I'll keep chasing it.
The white stuff on my finger is paint; we were painting the roof, and I
climbed down to stretch for a bit, when I noticed this tiny frog on my
Firebush. I have a passion vine growing through that bush, and it gets
butterfly caterpillars, so I was a bit concerned that this frog might
eat them. I liked the frog though, so I just let it go and tried not to
think about that.
Quite a while back, I raised tadpoles (scooped from a local pond) so my
kids could observe how they turn into frogs. This tiny frog by the time
is one that we raised. I guess I'll have to find some more to raise now
that I have a better camera...
