Cotton Stainers Dysdercus andreae
For the time being, have a look at my Portia Tree page for the story on these beetles and more pictures of them. I'm planning to take my better camera to where I found them for close-up photos of the bugs themselves, and I'll update this page with those hopefully more detailed photographs in a week or so. I guess I'll have to make a red beetle page now too, because at first I thought they were more closely related to Milkweed beetles. It took me a while to figure out that they're Dysdercus andreae.
