Hi all! Just wanted to share some pictures I took today of a Killdeer & its nest. We have these all over the farm where I board my horse. During the spring, we put flags up to mark the nests so we don't ride over them or mow over them!I thought it was pretty cool that I could get fairly close to it. It would watch me carefully and when I got to a certain distance it would go into its 'distraction display' as soon as I stopped moving it would settle down and watch me again.

Photos removed by forum Admin because they were links to another online service where Mithril put the photos. I'm asking Mithril to email them to me or post original copies here. Posting even your own pictures gets complicated if you post them on another online place and then post a link to that place in a different place.... Sorry for the delay, and thanks Mith, those were beautuful pictures!

Hope you enjoy! I'm working on getting shots of the Blue Jays in my yard but they seem to be extremely camera shy!

Those are Fabulous Mithril Maid! My only Killdeer picture was in the shade too far away, so I couldn't get a good look at the bird, and it's the only one I've seen until I looked at your pictures. They're beautiful birds. The dance is awesome, thanks so much for sharing it!

Thanks! I think these birds are really beautiful. We are out and about so much on the farm that I think they are pretty used to seeing us around. I was able to get really close to this one before he/she started dancing around! Like nearly 4 feet away!!

It amazes me that they reproduce so easily seeing that this nest is just out in the open in the middle of our XC field! We really have to be on the watch this time of year to miss running over the nests!
