These snowflake ornaments are fun to give as gifts, or hang on your
Christmas tree, ceiling or windows for the holidays. You can make
them all year long though, and since the holidays usually get too busy
for arts and crafts, it's not a bad rainy day summer project.
This page shows the first paper filigree snowflake ornaments I quilled.
Hopefully they'll give you some ideas if you plant to make some of your
own.
Part way through the flakes on this page I felt as though I was running
out of ideas. Then I figured out that looping the paper added
oceans of new possibilities. I'm looking forward to getting the
same out of new stuff to try feeling, and wondering what I'll come up
with next. I never thought a simple six pointed shape could yield
so many variations; they do say that no two snowflakes are alike
though...
After I made these snowflakes, I switched over to acid free paper and
glue, added more shades of paper including silver and off white, and
figured out some more interesting paper looping techniques. Have a
look at them on this
quilling page.
