I saw this Phaon Crescent Butterfly sip nectar from this
Yellow Wood
Sorrel flower (but it rolled up its proboscis before I clicked the
picture:)
Once in a while I notice these Phaon Crescent Butterflies in my yard,
and I see them here and there, but they're so fast I never get to watch
them for very long. This one paused briefly to sip nectar from this
Spanish Needles flower, and
was gone so fast I'm not sure which way it flew when it left.
These Phaon Crescent
butterflies are supposed to use
Phyla nodiflora as their host plant. The more I learn, the more
I like that plant! I wonder how much I'll like it after I get done
crawling through it looking for tiny caterpillars? First I need to find
a spot where there are lots of Phaon Crescent Butterflies, then
I'll crawl through the Phyla nodiflora (again.. I'm still looking for
White Peacock Butterfly caterpillars on
it too.)
