These wasps probably spell doom for some of my butterflies.
I haven't figured out which creature it lays eggs in yet, but it reminds
me of a black and white Chalcid wasp that
parasitizes my Zebra Longwing Butterflies
I've looked at the Firebush
now and then over several weeks, and there
are either more of these tiny wasps, or I've gotten better at spotting
them. They're really quick, and dart about so fast that it's easy to
loose track of them when they fly to a different
. They prefer the
little nubs left behind after the flowers fall. I sent one to Bug Guide,
and they say that it's in the genus Conura.
