Every so often, this Black Necked Stilt stood to make sure her eggs were doing well.  See the brown speckled eggs at her feet?

The way her legs bend backwards looks completely freaky!  you can see why they call these long-legged birds 'stilts.'

I was busy taking care of my own little one so I only caught a fleeting glimpse of the stilt chicks. Another year, another nest, another time...
